In a strategic move to bolster their attacking lineup, St. Louis CITY SC has officially announced the acquisition of forward Damion Downs on loan from EFL Championship club Southampton FC. The 22-year-old Downs will be with St. Louis CITY SC through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with the club holding a purchase option at the end of the loan period. In addition to securing Downs, St. Louis CITY SC has also acquired his Discovery Priority from Charlotte FC, compensating the latter with $350,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM). Downs began his professional journey with German Bundesliga club FC Köln, where he made a significant impact by appearing in 42 matches and contributing 13 goals and 6 assists.
