We're officially in the middle of the training camp edition of the Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff. With fans needing to wait only 21 more days until the Steel City brand of football returns when the Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13, we'll take a look at the most recent and best players to ever wear No. 21.

Steelers current No. 21: RB Travis Homer

Homer, who signed with the Steelers this offseason, is the current No. 21 on the team's roster.

Last 5 Steelers to wear No. 21
  • Travis Homer, 2026-present
  • Chuck Clark, 2025
  • Darius Rush, 2023-2024
  • Tre Norwood, 2021-2022
  • Sean Davis, 2018-2020
Best No. 21 in Steelers history: C Chuck Cherundolo

The countdown to kickoff brings us to one of the best greatest Steelers from the 1940s: center Chuck Cherundolo.

Cherundolo, a talented Pennsylvania native, signed with the Cleveland Rams as an undrafted free agent in 1937 and played three seasons there before joining the Philadelphia Eagles in 1940.

Finally, Cherundolo would sign with the Steelers in 1941 and play in Pittsburgh from 1941 to 1942 and 1945 to 1948.

During his time with the Steelers Cherundolo was named to two Pro Bowls and earned a Second-Team All-Pro selection. Thanks to his stellar play during the 1940s, Cherundolo was named to the Pittsburgh Steelers Legends Team, which is even more reason to name him the best to ever wear No. 21 in franchise history.
