Chris “Block” Gordon, a veteran drag racer who starred in the Discovery reality series Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, was killed in a horrific crash at a raceway in Ohio over the weekend. He was 55 years old.
KD Motorsports Park confirmed the passing on Facebook on Sunday (August 23), writing, “As most of you know by now, we had a devastating accident last night at the track involving our great friend and fellow racer, Chris “Block” Gordon…he was lost as a result of this terrible incident.”
“Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers as we all try to mourn the loss of this good man, an absolute legend of our sport,” the statement continued.
The post revealed that “staff was immediately on scene with trained medical staff, firefighters, EMT and medical equipment, along with highly medically trained bystanders who exhausted all of their efforts at the time of the accident.”
“As the day passes and we all try to process this tragedy, please for all involved let’s keep speculation and uninformed opinions to a minimum as we pray for his family,” the statement concluded. “RIP “Race in Peace” my friend you will be missed by so many.”
A respected racer from South Carolina, Gordon appeared in the Discovery reality competition series Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, a spinoff of the popular Street Outlaws. The show, which premiered in 2020, saw eight teams competing in the biggest street race in the U.S. Gordon served as team leader for South Carolina, leading them to victory.
Hours before Saturday’s race, Gordon posted about the event on his Facebook page, writing, “It’s race day at the Hill Drivers meeting @ 6:15. Let’s get busy.”
The comments on the post are now filled with tributes from friends, family, and fans. His fiancée, Amanda Grasty, also shared a post on her own Facebook page, writing, “I have tried multiple times to make a post but to be completely honest, I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to think, I don’t know what to feel, I don’t know what to do…. I AM SHATTERED!!!!”

“We did EVERYTHING together, from the time we woke up in the morning until he kissed my forehead good night EVERY NIGHT,” Grasty concluded. “We were a TEAM and now I’ve lost my MVP. There is no “I” in “team” so now I don’t know how “I” am supposed to continue.”
Gordon’s friends and family have also set up a GoFundMe to help cover the financial costs of getting his body home to South Carolina and to help lay him to rest.
