Sunderland Have To Improve On Their Offer To Land This Talented Winger: Should Le Bris Go For Him?

In a recent report, A Bola stated that Sunderland have to improve on their offer to land Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats have to launch an offer close to the Mozambique wide player’s £52m release clause to land him in this transfer window.

Catamo enjoyed a good run of form at the Portuguese club in the previous campaign when he put in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The Mozambique international scored eight times and earned five assists in 47 matches for Sporting last season across all fronts.

The 25-year-old is currently among the most talented wide players in Liga Portugal. Hence, the Black Cats would do well to get him on board this off-season.

His current contract at Sporting will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Sunderland to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Catamo is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and can strike the ball with power from long range.

The Mozambique talent can contribute by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. Catamo mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also function as a left-winger if asked to do so by his manager. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to snap him up before the end of this month.

We can expect Catamo to improve the quality of Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting role at the Wearside club in the coming seasons.

At 25, Catamo has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Black Cats to consider this month. Therefore, Le Bris should focus on going for a player with his skill set in this transfer window.
