Minnesota Vikings fans have now been informed that it will be Kyler Murray leading their offense as the QB1 this season.

The decision has been made for the 2024 first-round pick, J.J. McCarthy to be made QB2 following the ongoing battle in this summer’s training camp.

Murray has landed in Minnesota with a big point to prove and plenty of doubters to silence following his underwhelming time with the Arizona Cardinals.

Kevin O’Connell has seen enough in the 29-year-old to make Murray the starter ahead of the opening preseason game against the New York Giants on Saturday.

Although the decision has been made for Murray to become QB1 in Minnesota, footage emerging from practice has some fans worried for star receiver Justin Jefferson.

The unrest at quarterback last season in Minnesota seriously hindered Murray’s output as he ended the season with just two touchdowns.

Even Jefferson’s previous worst season prior to the 2025 term offered more than double (5) that number of touchdowns.

Having witnessed some of the contested catches being thrown to Jefferson in practice, a lot of Vikings fans are worrying about number 18’s health when the season starts.

‘Oh dear. That’s a season ender for sure,’ replied one Vikings fan after seeing the footage on X.

Another fan was thinking the same thing: ‘Yeah I’m scared too I hope Jettas can adjust in real game scenario’.

The throw required Jefferson to jump up and claim the ball, with cornerback James Pierre bearing down on the wide receiver.

One fan made their case for the ball being thrown too high: ‘That should be at his chest’.

‘Yeah, hopefully there’s a lot less hospital balls in practice that we don’t see,’ added another.

There was even one Seattle Seahawks fan who got involved in the discussion: ‘He threw 2 of these burgers every year to Coby Bryant, I’ll miss him man’.

‘More mechanics issues to be seen here…’ said another fan.

The proof will be in the pudding when the season starts, but it is clear that the throw from Murray in the clip could have seen Jefferson receive a hefty tackle in a real game scenario.
