The 2026 Red Sox wouldn’t be where they are without some surprising contributions

As Jake points out in his piece this morning, we’re on the cusp of potentially seeing some big changes to the Red Sox roster and everyday lineup. Roman Anthony isn’t coming back to Boston to ride the bench, of course. And while this will make a lot of fans groan, I think the same can be said of Trevor Story. So as the Sox get healthy, we’re about to say goodbye to some bit-part players who turned into unexpected contributors to the 2026 Red Sox

Those unexpected contributors are one of the most fun parts of baseball. We get them every year, and we almost never see them coming, which, of course, is where the fun comes in. Which bit-part player will you remember most fondly from the 2026 team? Andrew Monasterio, Anthony Seigler, Jahmai Jones, Nick Sogard, Tsung-Che Cheng Mickey Gasper, Nate Eaton, Tyron Guerrero, Eduardo Rivera, and even Jake Rogers have all had their moments, and all will be remembered to varying degrees. You could even put Jake Bennett into this category, though he’s likely to be a meaningful contributor for years to come, unlike those other names.

Talk about modern-day Pedro Ciriacos and whatever else you want in this space and, as always, be good to one another.
