The Athletic reveals the three Man Utd first-team players who could still leave this summer

With less than a week left before the transfer deadline, Joshua Zirkzee and two other Manchester United players are still facing uncertain futures.

Last month, the Premier League giants announced the capture of midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, in addition to back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow and teenage winger Tynan Thompson.

On Tuesday, United are expected to confirm Baleba’s signing after agreeing to a £70 million deal with Brighton, while the club continues to search the market for a new left-back.

While Man Utd have been mildly active on the arrival front, they have yet to sell a first-team player. The club parted ways with Casemiro, who left as a free agent, as did the forgotten Tyrell Malacia. On the other hand, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir were loaned out to Trabzonspor and Celta Vigo respectively.

But according to The Athletic’s Transfer DealSheet, MUFC could still cash in on three players in Zirkzee, Harry Amass, and Toby Collyer.

These three men have been part of Michael Carrick’s squad, but none of them featured in the opening-day defeat at Hull.

Zirkzee, who is the most prominent name on the list, was left on the bench for the duration of the game, even with the team desperate for an attacking flair.

The Dutchman is the only other recognised striker in the squad aside from Benjamin Sesko, but Carrick has been opting to play Matheus Cunha or Bryan Mbeumo up front when the Slovenian is unavailable.

Luckily for Zirkzee, he remains a popular name in Italy. As the source reveals, Juventus and Como are both interested in his services, and he also has a trio of admirers in the Premier League.

On the other hand, Amass and Collyer are targets for Championship clubs.

Based on the midfield pecking order, Collyer is unlikely to earn any playing time, so his departure should be a given. The 22-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan at West Brom and Hull City, but a permanent sale would be the best option for the player at this stage of his career.

On the other hand, Zirkzee and Amass remain needed, so they should only be granted leave if INEOS find suitable replacement.

The Netherlands international wouldn’t be faulted for seeking a transfer, but United shouldn’t start the season with only one natural centre-forward.

The same goes for Amass, who remains Luke Shaw’s solitary back-up. The 19-year-old might be deemed too green for Carrick’s liking, but his departure would leave the left flank exposed if the club fails to sign a new left-back.
