One important thing has not changed since Jayden Maiava has taken over as US starting quarterback: his coach's belief in him. Obviously, as a head coach, it only makes sense to speak the right things to a young quarterback. For Lincoln Riley, it appears his words carry more weight. The USC head coach seems as confident as he has ever been in Maiava.
In a recent tweet, the official account for the Big Ten Network displayed Lincoln Riley's thoughts on his starting quarterback in Year 2. Here is what he had to say:
"He's played some really good football for us, and I think he's primed to play his best."
Jayden Maiava entering a new season with more confidence and more maturity at quarterback will be a great foundation for him to enter this year. It also helps that he will continue to have an offensive mind, like Lincoln Riley coaching him up along the way. The weapons he has to work with this season, if anything, got deeper, as there will be multiple key contributors instead of two major ones like last season. Maiava is in a great position to have a big season that could ultimately skyrocket him up draft boards.
