Tyler Glasnow made presumably his final rehab start on Wednesday night and looks ready to rejoin the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers have an off day on Thursday and have Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tarik Skubal and Blake Snell lined up for their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They will have an off day on Monday before an important series against the Atlanta Braves. Glasnow could end up starting in that series.
He threw 77 pitches for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday night, allowing just one hit and issuing one walk. He gave up one earned run, and struck out nine batters in 5 1/3 innings. The goal for him was to go about five innings and throw around 75 pitches, according to Dave Roberts earlier this week.
He hit that goal and got great results as well. His velocity looked good in the matchup and he landed 54 pitches for strikes. He will finish his rehab assignment with a 1.32 ERA in four games, spanning 13 2/3 innings.
The Dodgers recently placed Justin Wrobleski on the injured list, and Glasnow will seemingly take his spot in the rotation. The off days have allowed the Dodgers to use a five-man rotation while they await Glasnow's return to the big leagues.
Before his extended absence with an injury, Glasnow had a 2.72 ERA in seven starts for the Dodgers. With him back, the rotation will be Yamamoto, Skubal, Snell, Roki Sasaki, Eric Lauer and Glasnow. Shohei Ohtani has resumed throwing and is feeling good, so he could replace Lauer soon.
When Ohtani returns, the Dodgers will have five All-Stars in their six-man rotation.
