UConn Women's Roundup: Basketball Season Tickets on Sale; Soccer Opens Season

Season tickets for the 2026-27 UConn women’s basketball season have gone on sale.

On Wednesday, UConn reminded fans that season tickets are the only way to guarantee a ticket to key games, including those against Tennessee and Iowa.

Season ticket packages are sold separately for games at Gampel Pavilion on campus and at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford.

The Huskies, who finished last season with a 38-1 record and lost to South Carolina in the semifinals of the Women’s NCAA Tournament in April, also have four neutral-court games on the schedule.

They are: a rematch with South Carolina at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. (Nov. 24); Duke at TD Garden in Boston (Nov. 28); Maryland, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (Dec. 5); and LSU at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville (Dec. 20).

Head coach Geno Auriemma is entering the 42nd season of his legendary career and is the winningest coach in college basketball history with a record of 1,288-166 (.866).

The Huskies have made the NCAA Tournament all but four times in his tenure – his first three seasons and in 2020, when it was canceled due to the pandemic. Subtracting his 43 wins and 39 losses in those three seasons from his career record give Auriemma a winning percentage of .907.

Auriemma’s teams have won 12 national championships.

Gampel Pavilion tickets start at $165 (plus applicable fees). The cost at PeoplesBank Arena begins at $133 (plus applicable fees) in Hartford.

The visiting UConn women's soccer team came from a goal down in the 83nd minute to draw even with Stony Brook, and they settled for a 2-2 tie in the season opener for both teams (0-0-1) on Long Island.

The Seawolves took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute when Emily Lemke scored on a penalty kick.

Just after halftime, the Huskies’ Alayna Taylor right-footed the ball for a tie in the 48th minute. Anya Montano and Ines Nourani were credited with assists.

Emanuelly Ferreira gave Stony Brook back the lead on a goal in the 78th minute, with Nourani following with the shot to tie. Montano and Chloe Shimkin assisted on the play.

Freshman goalkeeper Lily Onorato made her collegiate debut about an hour’s drive from her hometown of Oyster Bay, N.Y., and posted five saves on seven shots.

The Huskies outshot the Seawolves 14-7 in shots on goal.

It was a night of firsts for UConn players. Nourani, a sophomore from Quebec, scored her first UConn goal. Massachusetts native Montano, a freshman, recorded her first assists in college, and Shimkin, a junior transfer from Texas, registered the assist in her UConn debut.

Shimkin is another Long Islander, with her hometown listed as Rockville Centre.

The Huskies had 14 shots on goal compared to seven for the Seawolves.

UConn’s next match is set for Aug. 20 in its home opener in Storrs against Rutgers at 7:30 p.m.
