EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — After a 1-1 tie against Purdue, the University of Evansville women's soccer team is finishing preparations for their home opener against Southeast Missouri State.
Purple Aces head coach Chris Pfau credited the team's maturity for their ability to hang with the Boilermakers in their season opener despite being outshot 31-2.
Now with a return to their home field for the first time this year he said he wants to see UE play with more aggression.
"Can we carry that over, you know we had a tough good stretch there with the University of Cincinnati in the preseason and at Purdue, so can we carry that mentality in a game at SEMO," Coach Pfau said. "Being at home and can we get on the front foot a little bit with this game. You know it's can we control the tempo, you know Purdue controlled the tempo against us. So can we do this against SEMO get on top of the ball, press higher up, play with confidence what we talked about with iU Indy in our very first game, so I'd like to see that especially at home."
The action between the Evansville and the Redhawks get underway at 6 p.m. in Arad McCutchan Stadium Thursday, August 20th.
