UE women’s soccer gearing up for Lindenwood

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — After shutting out Southeast Missouri State, the University of Evansville can show they're a step closer to winning consistently this week when they take on Lindenwood.

"I think it's just continuing confidence," said Purple Aces midfielder, Ella Hamner. "Knowing we can keep the ball, knowing when we kind of just need to get it out, and hold on to a win or whatever it may be. And then just continuing to work on things until conference gets here."

Going back to last year, UE head coach Chris Pfau said he wanted his team to play aggressive and keep the defense on their heels. The Purple Aces had a lot of success executing this plan until they ran out of gas in the last match of the regular season.

So far this year, Pfau has liked what he's seen from his team including in their 1-1 season opener at Purdue. But going forward he wants the team to move the ball more and be on the offensive more than not.

He said, "Possession, outside back swinging the ball i think is our big things. We don't want to go one dimensional with the three kids up front and just play balls in behind because they have pace. I think if we can swing it side to side and then every once in a while get them on the counter-attack I think we'll be an interesting team and it'll be hard to defend against us."

Evansville will face the Lions on Thursday, August 27th, at 6 p.m in Arad McCutchan Stadium.
