EAGAN, MN (KELO) — The Vikings offense has been the story of the offseason but with a starting quarterback now decided, the defense is ready to make headlines ahead of Week One.
Minnesota’s defense has been the lifeblood of the franchise since the Purple People Eater days. The team has a scary ability to shut down most opposing offenses since hiring Brian Flores as defensive coordinator back in 2023.
Safety Josh Metellus has been one to flourish under Flores. Metellus, alongside defensive lineman Eric Johnson II, said they’re focused on improvements before game one.
“For me personally, just working with my hands,” Johnson II said. “Making sure they’re a lot faster because that’s one of our main weapons is our hands and getting them on guys faster.”
“I move around a lot and I feel like the past couple years I have been solid everywhere, but my goal this year is to be impactful, so what can I do to take that extra step forward,” Metellus said.
The Vikings open preseason action in New York on Saturday against the Giants.
