Vikings sign former Lions draft pick to a contract

The Vikings added a running back familiar to them from the NFC North on Wednesday.

The team announced the signing of former Detroit Lions running back Jermar Jefferson. In a corresponding move, they waived Jordan Mims with an injury designation. He had missed time during training camp, and now Jefferson comes in with fresh legs.

Jefferson was a seventh-round pick out of Oregon State in 2021 and was with the Lions until 2024. After he was released from the team, he had stops with the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals.

We mentioned Jefferson went to Oregon State, he was there while current Vikings center Blake Brandel was as well. While he hasn't been productive in the NFL, he ran for nearly 3,000 rushing yards and scored a total of 29 touchdowns and was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year for the Pac-12 in 2020.
