As the youngest player on the current Philadelphia 76ers core, VJ Edgecombe is in a bizarre situation. He's a talented player, so he's earned a spot in one of the league's most loaded starting lineups. For some people, he is the odd man out because he's less experienced, but he seems to be acclimating well.

At first, he was a bit starstruck by LeBron James. However, the past few weeks have been good for him to get used to playing with megastars like him. Now, it seems Edgecombe just sees them as the talented teammates he has now.

During his rookie season, Edgecombe did not look out of place at all. Since he is playing alongside the likes of Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, most people expected him to step back and play more of a role. That was not the case because he took charge and became one of the 76ers' best players immediately.

"Every day, just a bunch of reps. Knowing that now is a different situation, but I'm super excited to learn... They're not acting super big time, like they are. They’re really just a bunch of humble men. I’m just glad to be around them," Edgecombe said ahead of him playing for the new-look 76ers in the 2026-27 season.

It is a good sign that the young player is adjusting to the new system well. He knows that he might have to step back, but it is always a learning opportunity to play alongside superstars, as he will do. It is a blessing, and he acknowledges that he will be a better player because of it.
