Voting is open for The Enquirer's first Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week ballotfor the 2026-2027 high school sports year for activity through Aug. 23.

Voting occurs each week during all high school sports seasons, recognizing athletes across all sports. Please do not email your votes; they will not count.

Aiken: Aiken came up with key turnovers to defeat Clark Montessori, 18-12.

Badin: The Rams hammered crosstown rival Hamilton in the first rivalry game at Badin’s stadium, winning 33-7.

Elder: The Panthers’ offense took off in Week 1, racing past Middletown for a 35-3 win at home.

Fairfield: Fairfield forced six turnovers to beat Wayne, 35-25.

Harrison: The Wildcats started the 2026 season with a 35-0 shutout against Milford.

Kings: Kings ran for over 240 yards in a 34-6 win against Sycamore.

La Salle: La Salle held off Colerain in a heated rivalry match, winning 30-21.

Lakota East: Four different Thunderhawks found the endzone in a 41-14 win against Centerville.

Lakota West: Lakota West’s defense held defending state runner-up St. Xavier in check for a 20-7 win.

Lebanon: Lebanon punched in four rushing touchdowns to best Northmont, 38-17.

Little Miami: Little Miami shut out South Dearborn for a 28-0 season-opening win.

Oak Hills: Oak Hills’ aerial attack was too much for Edgewood in a 49-20 win.

Princeton: The Vikings claimed their first King of the Block trophy in 35 years, beating Moeller 31-24 inside Paycor Stadium.

Springboro: Springboro blanked Mason in the season opener, securing a 33-0 win.

West Clermont: West Clermont’s gunslinging put up five passing touchdowns against Mt. Healthy, winning 42-12.

Withrow: Withrow took down Walnut Hills, 50-13, after jumping out to an early 30-0 lead.

Ohio small-school football team of the week

Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy: CCPA shut out Cedarville and steadily added scores on offense to win 30-0.

Cincinnati Country Day: The Nighthawks retained the Country Day Cup with a 30-26 win against Summit Country Day.

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy: The Eagles fended off the Falcons, beating Fenwick 28-26.

Deer Park: Deer Park ran over Norwood for a 43-0 shutout victory.

Gamble Montessori: The Gators’ offense was rolling in a 54-6 win against Stivers.

Goshen: Goshen put it to Reading in a 40-0 win.

Hughes: Hughes’ offense was enough to overpower Batavia in a 53-38 contest.

Indian Hill: Indian Hill took control early for a 35-14 win against Roger Bacon.

Madeira: Madeira’s balanced offensive attack burst past Shroder in a 47-8 win.

Mariemont: The Warriors cruised past Clermont Northeastern for a 33-0 shutout win.

McNicholas: The Rockets’ running game led the way in a 31-10 win over Turpin.

Miami Valley Christian Academy: Miami Valley Christian controlled the game against East Clinton, winning 40-0.

Monroe: Monroe stunned Loveland with a 39-6 victory on the road.

New Richmond: New Richmond put up 36 points in the second quarter against Bethel-Tate, eventually winning 49-18.

Purcell Marian: The Cavaliers put seven touchdowns on the board in a 51-0 win against Thurgood Marshall.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place: The Titans came out on top of a defensive battle with Dayton Northridge, winning 18-13.

Talawanda: The Brave started the season with a 33-6 win over Taylor.

Waynesville: Waynesville orchestrated a fourth-quarter comeback to beat Clinton Massie, 20-17.

Western Brown: The Broncos poured on the points early in a 49-13 win against Hillsboro.

Wyoming: The Cowboys held Ross to under 100 total yards in a 28-3 win.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana football team of the week

Bellevue: Bellevue came out on top of a shootout with Trimble County, winning 42-36.

Bishop Brossart: Bishop Brossart held off Walton-Verona, securing a 30-22 win.

Boone County: Boone County raced past Holmes for a 36-8 victory.

Campbell County: Campbell County’s defense held Scott to a single score, winning 32-7.

Cooper: Cooper outlasted Christian County in a 28-21 win.

Covington Catholic: The Colonels posted an eye-popping 50-6 win over Ryle to start the year.

Dayton: The Greendevils held their foot on the gas in a 48-0 shutout win over Gallatin County.

East Central: The Trojans bested rival Lawrenceburg, 21-0.

Holy Cross: Holy Cross picked up a 33-7 win against St. Henry to start the year.

Lloyd Memorial: Lloyd Memorial’s defense held Newport Central Catholic in check for a 21-3 win.

Ludlow: Ludlow turned some heads with a 21-12 victory at Newport.

Simon Kenton: Simon Kenton took control against Dixie Heights, winning 42-13.

Boys fall team of the week

Elder golf: The Panthers shot a 308 on Aug. 23 to win the Harry Alexander Open. Elder also won the Centerville Invitational on Aug. 9.

Highlands soccer: The Bluebirds opened the season by beating Boone County 6-0 and Campbell County 5-3.

Ryle golf: The Raiders shot a 292 at the Pendleton Invitational, taking first in the tournament by 17 strokes.

Sycamore soccer: The Aviators are 3-0 with wins over Little Miami, Centerville and Elder.

Wyoming golf: The Cowboys won the CHL Preseason Tournament, shooting a 325 to win by four shots.

Girls fall team of the week

Beechwood volleyball: Have started the season with a 4-1 record, beating Gibbs, Karns Comprehensive, Cookeville and Knoxville Central in Tennessee.

Bishop Brossart volleyball: Swept Dayton before beating Holy Cross and Conner 3-1 to begin the year.

Madeira golf: Madeira had a 338 at the CHL Preseason, taking the tournament by 23 shots.

Mariemont tennis: Mariemont has started the year 5-0, beating Anderson, Bexley, Worthington Christian, Lakota West and Mount Notre Dame.

Ryle golf: The Raiders won the Beechwood Invitational, shooting a 375 as a team to win by four strokes.

Seton soccer: The Saints are 3-0 and haven’t allowed a goal this season, beating Anderson 8-0, Fairfield 6-0 and Centerville 3-0.

Walnut Hills golf: The Eagles were winners at the ECC Preview, shooting a 322 as a team.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys cross country

Evan Adams, Villa Madonna: His first high school race was a success as he took 12th place at the Diocese of Covington Championships in 19:11.37. 

Tegan Burk, South Dearborn: He took third place at a quad meet with Rising Sun, Lawrenceburg and Milan, crossing the finish line in 19:13.22. 

Sawyer Franxman, Covington Catholic: He led the Colonels to the team title at the Diocese of Covington Championship with a third place finish in 17:59.14. 

Noah Fuller, Holy Cross: He narrowly missed his personal best, running a time of 19:07.24 at the Louisville St. Xavier Tiger Run. 

Rylynn Head, Lawrenceburg: The junior won a quad meet with Rising Sun, Milan and South Dearborn, then took second place at Madison Consolidated with a time of 18:18.49. 

Henry Kramer, Bishop Brossart: The freshman opened his season with a bang, winning the Diocese of Covington Championship in 17:49.18, just two seconds shy of a personal best. 

Sam Neuhaus, St. Henry: He took 39th place at the Louisville St. Xavier Tiger Run with a time of 16:53.82. 

Charlie Skeen, Beechwood: He opened his junior season with his first ever sub-17 time, crossing the line at the Louisville St. X Tiger run in 16:54.16. 

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls cross country

Stella Carpenter, Ryle: The junior took eighth place at the Louisville St. Xavier Tiger Run thanks toa new personal best of 19:00.94. 

Jasmine Cozmanciuc, Villa Madonna: The eighth grader took fifth place at the Panda Classic with a time of 21:33.38. 

Maggie Durrett, Notre Dame: She led the Pandas to the team title at their home meet with a runner-up finish in 20:33.86. 

Isabella Eaton, Conner: She led the Cougars at the Louisville St. Xavier Tiger Run, crossing the line in 22:36.34. 

Molly Francis, St. Henry: She took ninth place at the Panda Classic with a time of 22:44.28. 

Kaelyn Jones, Lawrenceburg: The senior won a tri meet with Rising Sun and South Dearborn with a time of 25:01.84. 

Callie Ochsner, Bishop Brossart: She won the Panda Classic with a time of 20:10.45. 

Madeline Olson, Dixie Heights: She ran the third-fastest time of her career at the Louisville St. Xavier Tiger Run, finishing in 21:18.39. 

Ohio big-school football player of the week

Colton Abner, West Clermont: He threw for 295 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-12 win over Mt. Healthy.

Corrious Booker, Fairfield: He rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-25 win over Wayne.

Roman Combs, Lakota West: The senior defensive back picked off St. Xavier twice. He led a Firebirds defense which held the Bombers to just 32 yards through the air in a 20-7 win Firebirds win.

Garrett Fraley, La Salle: He completed a 51-yard Hail Mary TD to Brooks McLaughlin to tie the game 21-21 at halftime, then led the Lancers to three field goals in the second half for a 30-21 win over Colerain.

Samuel Griffin, Aiken: The senior caught the winning touchdown late in the game in a 24-12 win over Clark Montessori.

Jordan Hall, Princeton: He scored three touchdowns in a 31-24 win over Moeller, rushing for 92 yards and two TDs, and having an 84-yard TD reception.

Andrew Lyman, Elder: In his first game with the Panthers after transferring from Kings, he had seven catches for 145 yards and four touchdowns, which tied a school record.

Ben Markarian, Harrison: He had two interceptions in a 35-0 win over Milford and has the program’s all-time record with 14.

Logan Schmenk, Lebanon: He rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-17 win over Northmont.

Lincoln Schreiber, Oak Hills: The senior quarterback was 13-for-16 for 265 yards and five touchdowns, plus another rushing score all in the first half.

Carter Stewart, Little Miami: He had two catches for 48 yards and a touchdown, and an interception on defense in a 28-0 win over South Dearborn.

Braxton Thurman, Lakota East: The senior had six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown and a key 62-yard kickoff return in the team’s 41-14 win over Centerville.

Max Weimer, Springboro: He had seven tackles including a sack in a 33-0 win over Mason.

Oliver Young, Kings: Young ran 15 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in Kings' 34-6 win over Sycamore.

Ohio small-school football player of the week

Lucas Cannady, St. Bernard-Elmwood Place: He threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns, leading the game-winning drive for a TD with 37 seconds left in an 18-13 win at Dayton Northridge.

Gage Croley, Goshen: He rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-0 win over Reading.

Rondae Dailey, Gamble Montessori – The senior rushed for one touchdown and recovered two fumbles for TDs in a 54-6 win over Stivers.

David Dupee, Wyoming: He threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-3 win over Ross.

Levi Guttman, Cincinnati Country Day: The senior QB scored the winning touchdown with 14 seconds left in a 30-26 win over Summit Country Day in the Country Day Cup, capping an 80-yard drive. He was 14-of-20 passing for 269 yards and one TD, and rushed for 91 yards and two scores. He also had two solo tackles and four assists on defense.

D’Juan Hedges, Deer Park: He had 12 tackles, eight solo, in a 43-0 win over Norwood.

Jaylen Lilly, Northwest: He threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 70 yards and a score in a 21-20 win over Wilmington.

Lucas Livezey, MVCA: He intercepted two passes in a 40-0 win over East Clinton.

Gregory Marlow, Waynesville: He led the Spartans on two fourth-quarter TD drives to come from behind for a 20-17 win over Clinton-Massie, rushing for a one-yard score and throwing a 13-yard TD pass to Tyce Rutledge.

Kemmarion McCray, CCPA: He threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-0 win over Cedarville.

Zach Murphy, CHCA: He had 10 tackles, including one on fourth down to clinch the win a 28-26 win over Fenwick.

Chase Raber, Mariemont: He had a 55-yard pick six and helped Mariemont shut out Clermont Northeastern in a 33-0 win.

Topher Wachtel, Indian Hill: He led the Braves with seven tackles and had a 25-yard pick six in a 35-14 win over Roger Bacon.

Brady Young, New Richmond: He threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-18 win over Bethel-Tate.

Northern Kentucky/ Indiana football player of the week

Brady Boruske, Bishop Brossart: He caught eight passes for 159 yards and a touchdown, and had an interception in a win over Walton-Verona. 

Kayden Brown, Bellevue: He led the Tigers with seven tackles, including two for loss, and returned a fumble 47 yards for a touchdown in a win over Trimble County. 

Corey Freihofer, Cooper: The senior caught four passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, scored two rushing touchdowns and recorded a tackle to lead the Jaguars to a comeback win at Christian County. 

Samuel Hughes, Simon Kenton: He caught seven passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Dixie Heights. 

Steven Johnson, Boone County: The senior carried the ball 18 times for 232 yards and scored two touchdowns in a win over Holmes. 

Noah Long, East Central: He caught a 74-yard touchdown pass, returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown and registered four tackles in a win over Lawrenceburg. 

Kiyan Miller, Covington Catholic: The sophomore ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 24-yard touchdown pass in a win over Ryle. 

Miller Reed, Ludlow: He led the Panthers to a win over Newport with 11 rushing yards and three touchdowns and two punts that landed inside the 20-yard line. 

Alex Riedinger, Campbell County: He had eight tackles, including five sacks, and returned an interception for a touchdown in a win over Scott. 

Lincoln Tomlinson, Lloyd Memorial: He ran for 46 yards and a touchdown, had 45 receiving yards, and recorded 12 tackles in a win over Newport Central Catholic. 

Dustin Wilson, Holy Cross: He caught 10 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown, recorded seven tackles and returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown.

Boys golfer of the week

Casey Kopecky, Loveland: Kopecky was the medalist in the Lakota East Invitational and ECC Preview before tying for fifth at the Anderson Invitational.

Joseph Mangine, Covington Catholic: Mangine got the season started at the Conner Tournament, taking first with a 66.

Austin Marty, Wyoming: The freshman was the winner of the CHL Preseason Tournament, shooting a 74.

Mike Moorman, Elder: Moorman was runner-up medalist at the Centerville Invitational, shooting a three-under par 69 at Pipestone.

Kayden Sautter, Beechwood: Sautter won the Bert Richey Invitational, shooting a 68 overall.

Jack Woolwine, Dixie Heights: Woolwine had a 69 to take first at the Pendleton Invitational.

Girls golfer of the week

Olivia Donovan, Lebanon: Donovan had a 70 at the ECC Preview, tying for first place.

Ellie Harting, Madeira: Harting cruised to a win at the CHL Preseason, shooting a 68 to win by 12 strokes.

Aubrey Lunn, Anderson: Lunn tied for first at the ECC Preview tournament, shooting a 70.

Maria Penaranda, Notre Dame: At the Crosstown Classic in early August, she shot a 76 to win the tournament.

Noah Dryer, Sycamore: The senior scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Elder.

Keith Hiridson, Kings: The senior scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Wyoming.

Jackson Lee, Anderson: The junior posted eight saves in a 3-0 shutout win over St. Xavier and five saves in a 2-0 win over McNicholas.

Santino Serger, Mariemont: The senior had three goals in a 5-2 win over Grandview Heights and one goal in a 3-0 win over Seven Hills.

Isaac Oles, South Dearborn: The junior had four saves in a 1-0 win over Rushville.

Evie Schray, Mount Notre Dame: The senior is 2-0 to start the year in singles competition.

Renee Harper, Oak Hills: The junior took down Sycamore’s Serena Sayles 6-0, 6-4 to remain undefeated in first singles.

Cara Marshall, Lebanon: Marshall is off to a 5-0 start in first singles competition, posting wins over Fenwick, Centerville, and Milford.

Gracie Aylward, Taylor: The senior is 5-0 in first singles play to start the year.

Audrey Thaman-Camille Kitchen, St. Ursula: The underclassmen duo posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Seton’s first doubles to help secure a team win.

Caitlin Meyer-Ines Botto, Sycamore: The senior-sophomore pairing is 3-0 to start the year in first doubles.

Sophia Curbelo-Emma Krauser, Little Miami: The junior duo posted wins in their first two matches of the year.

Avery Hall-Carlie Lyle, West Clermont: West Clermont’s second-doubles team has gone 2-0 to open the season.

Fiona Edelman-Carly Marsh, Wyoming: The second-doubles unit won both of its first two matches of the year.

Kimberly Harmon-Olivia West, Western Brown: The duo is off to a 4-0 start in first singles play to help Western Brown stay undefeated as a team.

Ohio big-school volleyball player of the week

Madison Helton, Springboro: She posted 26 assists, 13 digs and five aces in wins over Lakota East and Lebanon. 

Kennedy Mallory, Sycamore: The sophomore had 18 kills, 10 assists, six digs and three aces in a win over Beavercreek, then posted eight kills, 13 assists, four aces, three digs and two blocks in a win over Little Miami. 

Makenna Meibers, Seton: She had 13 digs, four kills and an assist in a season-opening win over Turpin. 

Dri Naranjo, Kings: In her first varsity match, the freshman had 14 assists, five digs, three kills and two aces in a win over Lebanon. 

Natalie Smith, Walnut Hills: She posted 11 digs, three assists and three aces in a win over Reading. 

Willow Smith, Ursuline: She was a menace at the net in a sweep of Watterson, posting nine kills and six blocks. 

Aubrey Templin, Harrison: The sophomore picked right back up where she left off as a freshman, finishing with 19 kills and nine digs in a win over Turpin. 

Adelyn Twyman, Lakota West: The senior had quite the start to the year, posting 16 kills with a .652 hitting percentage and three aces in a win over Talawanda. 

Lola Waleskowski, St. Ursula: She began her senior year with 18 kills, nine digs and five aces in a win over Mason.

Ohio small-school volleyball player of the week

Caitlin Brown, Badin: She had 24 assists, 14 digs, four aces and three blocks in a win over Summit Country Day. 

Jenna Brown, Clermont Northeastern: She posted 27 assists, 16 digs, five kills and four aces in a five-set win over Norwood, the had 23 assists, 15 digs, five kills and two blocks in a win over Cincinnati Christian. 

Savannah Chun, Goshen: She totaled 18 digs, five assists, two kills and two aces as the Warriors beat Miami Trace and MVCA in a tri-match. 

Evie Holbrock, Taylor: The senior had 11 assists, five digs and three kills in a season-opening win over Mercy McAuley. 

Maddy Jones, Cincinnati Christian: The senior had 20 kills, 14 digs and four aces to help the Cougars pull off a reverse sweep of Reading. 

Emma McGraw, Roger Bacon: She totaled 38 assists, 18 digs, seven kills and four aces as the Spartans started the season 2-0. 

Morgan Meiring, Fenwick: Her double-double of 16 kills and 15 digs, plus three aces, led the Falcons to a four-set win over St. Ursula. 

Sophia Ober, Ross: In tri-match wins over Taylor and Western Brown, she totaled 19 digs, six aces and six assists. 

Maria Schulte, McNicholas: The senior setter posted 39 assists, four aces, two digs and a block in a win over Sycamore. 

Sierra Stacy, Monroe: Her 20 assists and nine digs helped the Hornets pick up a five-set win over Hamilton. 

Annie Tully, Mariemont: In wins over Blanchester and Bethel-Tate, she totaled 32 kills and 19 digs.

Northern Kentucky/ Indiana volleyball player of the week

Molly Blackburn, St. Henry: In wins over Villa Madonna and Walton-Verona, she totaled 15 digs, 11 kills and three blocks. 

Kamdyn Brogan, Simon Kenton: She led the Pioneers to a win over Campbell County with 12 assists, six kills and two aces. 

Grace Duncan, East Central: She had 16 assists, five aces, three digs and two kills in a win over South Dearborn. 

Madelyn Ellis, Lawrenceburg: In three wins to open the season, the sophomore totaled 54 kills, 25 digs, 10 aces 10 blocks. 

Clare Holtzapfel, Ryle: The senior had 22 assists, 12 digs, five aces and two kills in a season-opening win over Dunbar. 

Taylor Janosick, Highlands: She posted nine kills and an assists in a sweep of Calvary Christian. 

Abby Kindoll, Boone County: In three matches of bracket play at the Ludlow Classic, she totaled 36 digs, six assists and two aces. 

Elizabeth Krohmer, Dixie Heights: She posted 32 assists, 13 digs, four aces and a kill in a five-set win over Boone County. 

Lucy Lenihan, Holy Cross: The senior had 11 kills, 12 assists, six digs and four aces in a sweep of Dixie Heights. 

Emarie Litton, Lloyd Memorial: She had six kills, six digs and four aces in a win over Williamstown. 

Peyton Niehaus, Newport Central Catholic: The senior posted 13 digs, three kills and three aces in a win over Villa Madonna. 

Ellie Osterkamp, Notre Dame: In three wins to open the season, the senior totaled 73 assists, 17 digs, three aces, three kills and two blocks. 

Anna Raziano, Villa Madonna: She was named to the Ludlow Classic all-tournament team, posting 36 assists, eight kills and six aces in five matches. 

Callie Ritter, Bishop Brossart: The senior had 12 kills while hitting .450, five digs and two blocks in a win over Dayton, then had 14 kills, four blocks and an ace in a win over Holy Cross. 

Olivia Simpkins, Walton-Verona: She led the Bearcats to a 3-1 record at the Ludlow Classic by totaling 64 assists, 13 digs, 12 aces, four kills and two blocks.

How to get Enquirer winners' certificates from the 2025-2026 school year

For past winners: The Enquirer will no longer mail certificates to schools after getting feedback that families weren't receiving them. Alex Harrison will make digital copies of all certificates available to families by 8 a.m. the Monday after the Friday win. Families will access the PDFs through this public Dropbox link.
