As it turns out, one of the season's most compelling quarterback duels may have unfolded on opening night in Bergen County.
Waldwick's Will Dell'Aglio and Vernon's Nate Kimkowski combined for 10 touchdowns and more than 700 yards of total offense as Dell'Aglio and the Warriors prevailed, 49-41, in a Week 0 season-opening crossover shootout on Aug. 27.
Dell'Aglio threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns while adding two rushing scores, and Waldwick's defense came up with key stops down the stretch to fend off Kimkowski and Vernon's comeback bid.
