The Golden State Warriors had plenty of excitement to start the summer, as they were all-in on pursuing Anthony Davis and LeBron James. However, the team ultimately missed out on both stars.

Instead, the offseason has been much quieter for Golden State. The Warriors have largely brought back players who have been with the organization over the last few seasons.

“The Warriors are officially running it back despite missing the playoffs last season. Golden State re-signed Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Gary Payton II this summer,” NBA writer Jake Weinbach posted.

Because of this, many have begun to wonder what could be next for superstar Steph Curry. ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes Curry should start considering an exit from the Bay Area.

“Steph needs to be planning his exit strategy from the Golden State Warriors," said Perkins on 'NBA Today'. "Think about it, over the last four years, the Warriors have been in the play-in tournament. And this year, the way that the West is stacked up, they're gonna be a play-in tournament team again. You can't waste any more time hoping and banking that Mike Dunleavy is gonna get it right or is gonna make the moves that are needed to make sure that you can compete for a title, especially in a tough Western Conference."

If Curry does eventually want a trade, the Warriors could receive significant value in return. Hoops Habit’s Cal Durrett believes Golden State could trade Curry to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Naz Reid, Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale, Dorian Finney-Smith and three first-round picks.

“The potential trade offer would see them ship out Naz Reid, Royce O'Neale, Grayson Allen, Dorian Finney-Smith, and three first-round picks for Curry and De'Anthony Melton. That might not be the return that Warriors fans would hope for, but it might be the most they could reasonably expect. Reid is an above-average starting power forward, while O'Neale and Allen are both good NBA players and reliable shooters,” Durrett wrote.

This would be a massive move for the Hornets, as they would land one of the greatest shooters in NBA history to help lead their young roster in the Eastern Conference. It could also benefit Golden State, as the Warriors would receive four proven veterans with significant NBA experience.

Reid, Allen, Finney-Smith and O’Neale have contracts that combine for $289 million. Charlotte already has a promising young core, and adding Curry to the mix would immediately give the team a proven superstar and championship pedigree. For Golden State, acquiring this veteran quartet could also allow the organization to avoid a complete rebuild while transitioning into the post-Curry era.
