TOPEKA (KSNT) — The 'Bods are going into the season on top.
Washburn soccer was selected to finish No. 1 in the MIAA in the preseason coaches poll, released on Wednesday.
The Ichabods narrowly edged out Pittsburg State for the top spot. Washburn received 7 first place votes for 138 votes, while the Gorillas collected 6 first place votes for 136 points.
Washburn went 14-4-6 in 2025, advancing all the way to the DII Championship Semifinals, where they fell to No. 4 Franklin Pierce, 2-1.
The 'Bods will open up the 2026 season on Aug. 27 against No. 19 Maryville University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
