Texas A&M's 2026 season opener vs. Missouri State is less than two weeks away, and after 14 preseason practices, third-year coach Mike Elko and his talented roster, now including 17 transfer portal additions and nearly 30 2026 signees, while 65% of the 2025 roster returns, led by redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed.
After making the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, the Aggies are well equipped to make it back to the postseason, but will need to make it through the new nine-game SEC schedule, which includes road games vs. LSU, Missouri, Alabama, South Carolina, and Oklahoma before hosting Texas at the end of the regular season.
On paper, Texas A&M's wide receiver rotation and secondary are loaded with NFL talent, serving as the program's primary strengths, while the offensive and defensive lines feature more than half of the Aggies' transfer portal additions, featuring four SEC starting O-linemen who are projected to replace the outgoing 2025 starters, who were all selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Among the newcomers who have stood out are Northwestern transfer Edge Anto Saka and former Tennessee cornerback Rickey Gibson, who have dominated nearly every practice and are slated to make an immediate and lasting impact this fall. Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton, whose 6'4" frame provides Marcel Reed the size to become a more accurate passer on 30-plus attempts.
