Immediately following her sixth round stoppage over an inferior opponent, Claressa Shields’ team immediately turned their attention on what they hope will be a more notable foe in Lauren Price.

Shield’s promoter Dmitry Salita tells Sky Sports that they still continue to work on making that fight a reality despite not having made as much progress as they would’ve hoped after inviting Price to the event over the weekend, with Price not ultimately making it.

“Our intention is to make the fight. Based on my understanding, we have agreed to all the requests from [Price’s promotional team] BOXXER and Lauren’s side,” Salita said. “I wanted Lauren and Claressa to have an opportunity to sit down together and see if there was anything outstanding…Claressa is extremely intelligent and very experienced in making big fights, and I’m sure Lauren is sharp as well. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to make it, but the conversations are ongoing and we want to make the fight.”

Salita would continue by saying that there are a few other ongoing conversations taking place in case the Price fight doesn’t materialize and reaffirms his fighter’s commitment to making the biggest and best fights possible, which could the likes of Mikaela Mayer and Tamm Thibeault.
