A new high school football season will arrive a day earlier than previously anticipated.
With ominous weather in the forecast for Friday night, several high school football matchups featuring teams from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties are being moved to Thursday evening.
As of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the following games have moved kickoff up a day:
- North Stokes at Cherryville, 7 p.m.
- Pine Lake Prep at Bessemer City, 7 p.m.
- South Point at Hickory, 7:30 p.m.
- Stuart Cramer vs. Forestview, 7:30 p.m.; the game is being played at Stuart Cramer High as work continues at Forestview’s Joe Alala Stadium
- T.C. Roberson at Hunter Huss, 7 p.m.
A bulk of action remains scheduled for Friday. Games kickoff at 7:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

East Gaston at North Gaston
East Lincoln at South Iredell, 7 p.m.
Highland Tech at Langtree Charter, 7 p.m.
Kings Mountain at Shelby
Lincolnton at Maiden
Mountain Island Charter at Lincoln Charter (game being played at Lenoir-Rhyne), 7 p.m.
North Lincoln at West Lincoln
Palisades at Ashbrook
