‘We’d obviously consider that’: PL club’s CEO opens door to surprise transfer for fan-favourite amid Man Utd links

Arsenal’s CEO, Richard Garlick, has opened the door to a potential departure for Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Although the Gunners aren’t looking to force the youngster out this summer, they will consider facilitating a sale if a suitable offer arrives.

Why are Arsenal open to selling Lewis-Skelly?

Increased depth in the two positions that Lewis-Skelly primarily covers, left-back and midfield, as well as the fact that any fee he returns will be classed as pure profit, are the primary reasons Arsenal have adopted such a stance.

They’re also looking to replenish their transfer funds after shelling out £75 million on Bruno Guimaraes, who made his debut in the Community Shield final last weekend.

In that same game, Lewis-Skelly was at his best, as he created the opener via a stellar assist for Riccardo Calafiori inside just 25 seconds.

When put on the spot regarding the 19-year-old’s future at the Emirates, Garlick said (as per Manchester Evening News): “We’re not actively looking at selling those homegrown players, but if the right opportunity came up and it was right for them and right for the club, then we’d obviously consider that.

“I think Myles had a fantastic end to last season and started this season really well, and we’re very happy with him. Ethan [Nwaneri] has had a great pre-season, and I think it is just a case of looking at what opportunities there are for both them and us.”

Reports last week revealed that Lewis-Skelly had been offered to both Chelsea and Manchester United to gauge whether either would be interested in doing business.

The Red Devils haven’t ruled it out as they are fond of the Arsenal starlet, but Lewis Hall tops INEOS’ shortlist of left-backs.

They may even have to turn their attention away from the two England defenders and consider a cut-price option due to their fresh bid for Carlos Baleba.

David Ornstein verified this morning that United had made a formal approach to Brighton and Hove Albion, offering £60m upfront plus £5m in add-ons for the midfielder.
