West Ham United’s deal to bring Leeds United striker Joel Piroe to the London Stadium club will advance today, according to ExWHUEmployee. West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants another striker for the Championship season, with Niclas Fullkrug not in his plans. The Hammers boss named teenage striking duo Josh Landers and Joshua Ajala on the bench for their opening league game of the new campaign yesterday. Nuno is desperate to get a new number 9 before the end of the summer transfer window, and a move for Piroe is on the cards.
The 27-year-old wants to leave Leeds this summer as he is not part of Daniel Farke’s plans. The Whites wanted £16 million plus bonuses at the start of the window for the West Ham target. However, talks have taken place over the weekend between Leeds and Piroe’s representatives over a reduction. A loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent could be considered, and it is unknown what the Hammers plans are.
The Dutchman has Championship experience, bagging 32 goals in the division across two seasons before sealing promotion with Leeds.
