What do you want to see against the Commanders?

For the first time in 2026, your Detroit Lions are back inside the friendly confines of Ford Field, playing in their second preseason game of the year as they host the Washington Commanders. There were plenty of positives and negatives from last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, with this week’s game against Washington being another opportunity for players to leave their mark on the coaching staff ahead of cut-down day. In case you missed it, myself and my good friend, Meko Scott, broke down several players that have a lot to lose/gain this week against Washington over on the Pride of Detroit YouTube Channel.

Lions coach Dan Campbell has already mentioned that we will see some starters against the Commanders, although we still don’t know the details as far as which will be in pads, and which will be in street clothes. That is, other than quarterback Jared Goff, who Campbell was clear about not playing during his Thursday morning media availability. With that said, we should get a good look at portions of what figures to be the starting offensive line on Saturday. That leads us perfectly into today’s question of the day — what are you hoping to see in the Lions’ second preseason game against the Commanders?

My answer: I would really like it if we could come away from this game with a few more answers surrounding the offensive line. If I were a betting man, I would guess that we will see every starter not named Penei Sewell for at least a few series on Saturday. Can either Juice Scruggs or Seth McLaughlin do enough to convince this coaching staff that they can fill in at center until Cade Mays returns later this season?
