Mackenzie Dern and Gillian Robertson don't like each other – or they just don't know each other. Either way, they're fighting each other at UFC 330. Their five-round UFC strawweight championship bout takes place Saturday, August 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
Dern (16-5 MMA, 11-5 UFC) and Robertson (17-8 MMA, 14-6 UFC) have had an interesting buildup to this fight, with Robertson putting Dern on blast for being phony and Dern saying she's never had beef with Robertson.
Dern, 33, became champion by claiming the 115-pound title with a unanimous decision win over Virna Jandiroba last October, which was her third win in a row. Now Dern is coming off the second-longest layoff of her career as she looks to make her first title defense.
Robertson, 31, will enter her first UFC title fight on the strength of a five-fight winning streak after most recently topping Amanda Lemos by unanimous decision in March. Robertson can become just the third Canadian UFC champion and first since Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre.
