We thought the Player of the Year race was over.

When Scottie Scheffler won the FedEx St Jude last week, it looked like he’d separated from the pack of five contenders for the Player of the Year Award. But this week, Wyndham Clark is saying not so fast.

This year’s US Open winner is in pole position for his third win of the season at the BMW Championship. He leads through 36 holes after two straight 64s to start his tournament.

And in doing so, he accomplished something that he’d never done before in his career.

On his way to a score of 12-under par, Clark didn’t have a single bogey on his scorecard through the first two rounds.

This is the first time in his entire career, which spans over seven years and 210 starts, that he has accomplished this feat.

Clark has been solid across the board all week. The American is totally in control of his golf ball at Bellerive Country Club, and he said he’s happy to be playing this brand of boring golf so far in the tournament.

Speaking after his second round, Clark said, “It’s really nice, boring golf, which is kind of always the dream that you play, so it’s been good. I said to everyone, if I continue to hit fairways, I think I can continue to do that with my play. Hopefully I keep that going.”

Clark has hit 86.1% of greens in regulation so far this week, an incredible display with his irons. If that continues over the weekend, it is hard to see how he’ll be beaten.
