Which Notre Dame standouts made ESPN’s latest NFL draft projections?

ESPN’s Jordan Reid released his preseason first-round predictions for the 2027 NFL draft, and three of Notre Dame’s standouts cracked the top-15.

His mock draft projections show that Irish sophomore quarterback CJ Carr will be selected No. 3 overall by the New York Jets. Reid continues the trend of early Irish players selected with junior cornerback Leonard Moore taken at No. 7 overall by the Carolina Panthers, while sophomore safety Brauntae Johnson is predicted to be picked No. 14 by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to Reid’s report, he can see Carr fitting well into a Jets’ offense that includes wide receiver Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall, and tight ends Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq once the 2027 season rolls around.

Reid believes that Moore could fill a void for the Panthers next season if current Carolina CB Mike Jackson decides to leave for free agency. As for Johnson, Reid sees the sophomore as the Steelers’ backup option if they’re not able to pick a top-three signal caller with Aaron Rodgers retiring after this season.

With Notre Dame nearly the unanimous College Football Playoff national champion pick this season, Carr, Johnson, Moore and company will soon begin their redemption tour after the Irish were snubbed out of last season’s CFP.
