The Chicago White Sox have cut ties with a nine-year Major League catcher from the organization.
According to Brooke Fletcher of Chicago Sports Network, the AL Central club released Eric Haase from his minor league contract on Thursday.
Haase, 33, signed a minor league deal with the White Sox a few weeks ago.
He played seven games at Triple-A Charlotte and went 9-for-25 at the plate with a homer and five walks.
Haase didn't crack the roster out of spring training, but he did play 29 games for the San Francisco Giants earlier this season.
He hit .162/.235/.365 with four homers, nine RBIs, and a .599 OPS in 84 plate appearances with the Giants.

The best offensive season of Haase's career was in 2021 with the Detroit Tigers, when he clubbed a career-high 22 long balls. Three hundred and one of his 412 career games have come in a Tigers uniform.
Instead of using Haase behind the plate in the Majors, the White Sox have opted to go with Drew Romo and Edgar Quero.
