Wil Lutz responds to Broncos fans: 'Twitter is a wild place'

Earlier this week, Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz joked that he had "a bone to pick" with reporters after they recently ignored his 73-yard field goal in practice but were full of praise for safety Brandon Jones going 3-of-4 on field goal attempts when Lutz was absent to attend the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement of Drew Brees.

"I kick a 73-yarder the other day and no one says a word, but Brandon Jones hits an extra point, and my timeline's going off," Lutz quipped on Monday.

It was clearly a good-natured remark from Lutz, but it wasn't received well by some Broncos fans.

"Try having a range beyond 50 in real games we can chat bub," one fan tweeted.

"Cause we know you’re not even making a 56 yarder in a game," added another fan.

"maybe learn how to kick in the cold buddy," another fan wrote.

Lutz presumably saw some of the tweets because he took to Twitter/X with this post two days later: "Twitter is a wild place 😂 . I appreciate all the real fans out there, Broncos Country . Exciting year ahead for this group!"

Lutz went 28-of-32 on field goal attempts during the regular season last year, with a long of 57 yards. The 32-year-old kicker then went 0-of-2 on field goal attempts in a 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game. He is now entering his fourth season as Denver's kicker.
