Jonathan Kuminga finally has a team, but he ended up leaving a lot of money on the table. NBA fans online are pointing out how much his decisions have cost him.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed Jonathan Kuminga to a two-year $13 million deal. The former Golden State Warriors man will join Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball on a proper title contender.
Things didn’t work out for Kuminga in San Francisco. Unhappiness related to his role and development and an idea that he could get paid more elsewhere eventually led the young star to move teams.
However, now that Kuminga is earning an average of $6.5 million a year, it remains wild to consider that he turned down an offer from the Warriors that would have paid him millions more.

He has also the tools to become a star in the NBA. However, it seems that he and his agent have overestimated his value.
In 2024, the Warriors reportedly made Kuminga a contract offer worth $75 million over three years which he turned down. Now, he finds himself on a proper prove-it deal with the Timberwolves. And fans have noticed.
“This is the definition of fumbled the bag! What a fumble,” one fan commented. “Physics have the Schrödinger’s cat, Basketball has the Denis Schröder effect,” another wrote, comparing Kuminga to the other NBA star.
“Even with Cali taxes he still could have made twice the amount being with GSW smh,” a third fan pointed out. “He ruined his career with his own hands, long road ahead now,” said a fourth.
“Kuminga needs to move on from his agent yesterday, this is atrocious,” a fifth fan wrote. “Crazy thing is that he’s not going to get that kind of offer from any team again,” a sixth fan said.
Kuminga is still young, so if he’s able to ball out with the Timberwolves, he could still very well end up signing a big contract. But he has his work cut out for him, it will be interesting to see how he fits in with the franchise and his new teammates.
