The Portland Fire have a new face for their new era. The WNBA expansion franchise unveiled Rose the Glitter-Breathing Dragon on Sunday.
The team teased the mascot for weeks with clues scattered around Portland. Pink glitter and mysterious scorch marks appeared at locations across the city.
The mystery finally ended with a dragon.

Rose wears a pink look and has a fiery personality. She also sports a crown of roses, which is an homage to the Rose City. Her signature move? Breathing glitter instead of fire.
The Fire turned the reveal into a full city-wide event. The team also warned fans after someone spotted a hole covered in pink glitter near Moda Center. Portland urged fans to stay in their seats during halftime as part of the reveal.
Rose gives the Fire another way to connect with Portland fans. She brings the heat, the glitter and a head-turning entrance.

They enter the final stretch at 15-22 after Sunday’s 105-100 loss to the Washington Mystics. The team is currently ninth in the WNBA with only the top eight teams qualifying for the playoffs.
However, their record does not tell the whole story. Portland has already shown that it can compete with established teams. The team beat the New York Liberty twice in May, and the Indiana Fever by 16 points and a 94-89 win over the Seattle Storm in June. The Fire also produced one of the season’s wildest games. They lost 124-123 to Washington in four overtimes on June 28. The game tied the longest contest in WNBA history.
The franchise faces a difficult finish. Portland will travel to Dallas on Tuesday before visiting Atlanta three days later. The team then hosts Golden State on Aug. 30.
