Worcestershire have signed former England Under-19 batter George Thomas on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old will move to New Road after his contract at Sussex expires at the end of the season.

The top-order batter, who began his career with Somerset, has played in the One-Day Cup and T20 Blast this season and hit his top score in the shorter format with 57 from 27 balls against Surrey.

"It is a really exciting opportunity for me to develop my career at Worcestershire across all formats and hopefully kick onto the next level," he told the club website.

"I feel like I have a lot to offer in both red ball and white ball cricket, so I am really looking forward to getting started with the group."

Thomas has made 39 appearances across all formats, and represented England at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2022.

"George is a very exciting player who we have had on our radar for a while, so we are really happy to be bringing him into the group," said Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson.

"He has a really dynamic attacking game which he has shown in white ball cricket and has all the skills to develop in the longer format too."
