The Miami Dolphins took on the New York Giants on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium, and Jeff Hafley's team fell 26-3 in the preseason matchup, dropping to 0-2 with their new coach in charge.
Miami was the worse team in all three phases on Saturday, so it was no shock that they lost again. In fact, they were probably lucky that the score wasn't worse.
As we continue to work through this contest, let's look at some of the worst performers for Miami.
QB Mark GronowskiGronowski is only back in Miami because Quinn Ewers is hurt, and he didn't impress in his limited opportunities on Saturday. When he was in the game, the Dolphins had three drives and went -10 yards on 10 plays. He completed just two of his five passes for one yard, and he ran for nine yards on two attempts.
WR Tutu AtwellAtwell was brought in this offseason to compete to be Miami's top wideout in 2026, and he may be fighting for his job now. He took one carry for one yard and failed to haul in either of his two targets. The former second-round pick should be dominating these backups, and that just hasn't been the case.
OT Charlie HeckThe Dolphins have no depth on the offensive line, and Heck may be the worst of the group. On Saturday, he was called for two penalties (one hold and one false start). His group also struggled to provide open running lanes for the backs.
Run/Situational DefenseMiami struggled to stop New York on the ground, as the Giants ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 4.1 yards per attempt. On top of that, when the Giants needed a certain number of yards for a third-down conversion, the Dolphins gave up just enough. If New York needed seven, they got eight. If they needed eight, they got nine.
Whole RB roomWe previously mentioned how poorly the offensive line blocked for the running backs, but the group deserves some blame as well. In fact, Jaylen Wright, Ollie Gordon II and Carlos Washington Jr. combined for 22 yards on a disgusting 1.69 yards per attempt. Wright even lost a fumble on the team's second possession of the day. The battle for the top back behind De'Von Achane doesn't have a clear-cut favorite.
