Wyndham Clark leads the BMW Championship by one stroke heading into the weekend at Bellerive.

Clark has actually been quite streaky this season, with two wins to his name, including a major championship, but five missed cuts as well.

This year has still been a huge turnaround for the long-hitting American, though, after last season where he recorded just two top-10 finishes and six missed cuts.

Wyndham Clark is in the race to win the Player of the Year award this season, and a win this week might just put him in pole position to do just that.

Wyndham Clark admits to making a mistake earlier this month

Clark spoke to reporters after his second round in St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday.

The 32-year-old missed his final two cuts of the regular season heading into the playoffs before securing a T-5 finish in Memphis last week.

And Clark responded when asked what enables him to bounce back so quickly from poor weeks.

Yeah, I know in Detroit — well actually The Open Championship I just, God, things just didn’t really go my way, he said.

I made some dumb mistakes, and next thing I look up and I’m 4-, 5-over and I’m like, what happened.

In Detroit I kind of threw my arm out practicing for that first pitch, so that was kind of stupid. But outside of that, you just go home and continue to work on what you’re working on.

The nice thing is I have a great kind of plan right now for my swing and putting and so when it gets off, I know what to go back to.

That makes it easy and able to bounce back quicker.

Wyndham Clark’s stats through two rounds of the BMW Championship

Clark has been in sensational form this week in St. Louis, with every single department of his game in tip-top condition.

The two-time US Open champion is ranked sixth in strokes gained off the tee this week, and second in strokes gained approach.

He’s ranked 11th in strokes gained around the green and 16th in strokes gained putting.

Unsurprisingly, Wyndham Clark is ranked 1st in strokes gained total this week at the BMW Championship, having gained 8.640 strokes on the field through two rounds.

If he maintains the kind of form he has shown during the first two rounds, he will have a great chance of winning his third title of the season.
