The injured list grows longer as the Yankees place Max Fried on the 15-day IL with a left elbow bone bruise.

This is the last thing Yankees fans needed to hear.

Today, the Yankees placed LHP Max Fried on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 8/14) with a left elbow bone bruise.

Fried exited his last start against Seattle last Thursday after recording five hits, two walks, four strikeouts and one earned run in five innings. It’s unclear whether the injury occurred during his outing or if it’s a residual issue from his last stint on the IL in May.

However, all hope is not lost for this starting rotation. Carlos Rodón is scheduled to make his first start since returning from the IL for the series opener against the Orioles on Tuesday. Yankees fans might even be able to breathe a little easier if he can make an impact before Clarke Schmidt returns to the mound.
