PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Basketball, golf, and soccer are covered on this week's episode of CI Sideline Stories.

Former Harlem Globetrotter and Peoria native Curley Boo Johnson hosts the largest basketball camp in the area over the summer. This year more than 700 kids attended the 19th annual camp and got to spend a week learning how to improve their game on and off the court.

94 volunteers were on staff this year, most of them being local high school players who attended the camp when they were younger and wanted to coach some teams. One of those is Washington's Kate McDougal, who comes from a family of basketball players. She and her four older sisters attended the camp and have coached in it.

The Peoria City Golf Championship took place with the championship round seeing Britt Bothast take on Steve Taylor. The championship round was suspended with 13 holes to play due to standing water and unplayable conditions. The following day Bothast defeated Taylor to win the Peoria City Championship for the first time in his career.

Also appearing on the podcast was Washington boys soccer. The Panthers are coming off a state runner up finish last season, which was the best finish in program history. This year the Panthers are hoping to take home the programs first State Championship.
