The Buffalo Bills have been prepping for their exhibition season opener for weeks now as the team will host the Carolina Panthers in a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday at Highmark Stadium.

It must be taken with a grain of salt, but after a few weeks of practice at training camp, the coaching staff led by Joe Brady has put together their first unofficial depth chart of the 2026 NFL offseason.

The Bills signed veteran Austin Corbett during free agency to compete to start at left guard this season. David Edwards, the starter from last year, departed as a free agent. Corbett is a former Super Bowl starter with the Los Angeles rams but it is Alec Anderson listed as the starter on the first depth chart.

Wide receiver always has some eyes on it during the summer. There are many more because of Keon Coleman's status entering a make-or-break season, in his own words.

Good news on the depth chart for him, Coleman lists above Josh Palmer. Both players likely need a good year in 2026.

DeWayne Carter is not on top of the defensive line depth chart despite being a third-round pick of this Bills front office in 2024. Instead, Phidarian Mathis is.

In his own right, Mathis was a second-round selection of the Washington Commanders in 2022 but was only signed last September in an early season move by Buffalo. Regardless, Mathis has turned heads at training camp this summer while Carter is returning from an Achilles injury sustained in August 2025 and has not found his footing.

No mention of wide receiver Skyler Bell? What about training camp darling at linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr?

One thing that shines bright on this depth chart: Rookies have to earn it. Beside top rookie selection TJ Parker at edge defender, none of them are considered starters. Not even punter Tommy Doman Jr.

When a punter is actually drafted? He is going to make the team... and yet, Doman is considered Mitch Wishnowsky's backup at this time.
