Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio on Sunday. According to KRON4, he was “arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution.” On Monday, York pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and “possessing criminal tools.”
He was sentenced to one day in jail for each count and was given credit for the first day while he waited to see a judge. He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.
York was arrested by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force along with local police. According to WKBN the police report said he was arrested at 9:35 a.m. ET at Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community.
York, 46, is the principal owner of the 49ers and is also a co-owner of Leeds United. York has been CEO of the 49ers since 2008 and bought shares in the team to become the principal owner in 2024. He was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, about 30-minutes north of where he was arrested.

San Francisco is coming off a 12-5 season. They lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round of the playoffs, 41-6. Their divisional rivals went on to win their second Super Bowl. The 49ers have not won a championship since the 1994 season, but they have made the Super Bowl twice in the Kyle Shanahan era while York was in charge.
York’s arrest will likely earn him some sort of discipline from the NFL under the Personal Conduct Policy. It’s certainly not the type of distraction any team wants at the start of the season, but it’s not unprecedented. New England Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft was arrested on prostitution charges in 2019.
