The first full week of the high school football season meant that a good number of the nation's top players officially kicked off their seasons.
While some will get a going in the weeks ahead, a majority of the five-star prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes took to the field for the first time in an official capacity this year.
For many of those stars, they were able to show why they're ranked so highly in their respective class. They had some struggles to kick off the new campaign.
Here's a look at how the 2027 and 2028 five-star prospects ranked in the USA TODAY Sports composite rankings fared in their opening games of the season.
How the 2027 5-star prospects faredDavid Jacobs, Blessed Trinity Catholic (Roswell, GA): Jacobs, an Ohio State edge commit, was dominant in a 44-0 win over Decatur, totaling seven tackles, two tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.
Monshun Sales, Lawrence North (Indianapolis, IN): Sales, an Indiana receiver commit, was limited in the Wildcats' Week 1 48-25 loss to top-ranked Brownsburg, catching two passes for 12 yards. Sales would ultimately have his biggest impact on defense.
Donte Wright, Long Beach Poly (CA): Long Beach Poly shut down Downey 24-7 with Wright, a Miami cornerback commit, playing a pivotal role in holding Downey to 60 yards passing.
David Gabriel Georges, Baylor (Chattanooga, TN): Gabriel Georges, a Tennessee running back commit, totaled 250 all-purpose yards (172 rushing yards, 78 receiving yards) and three fourth quarter touchdowns in Baylor's 38-20 win over Brentwood Academy.
A’Mir Sears, Columbus (Miami, FL): Sears, a Miami cornerback commit, didn't have to do a lot in Columbus' 35-7 win over Southridge but had his moments, catching two passes for 50 yards and touchdown along with a tackle for loss and did not allow any completions thrown his way on defense.
Nick Lennear, Miami Carol City (FL): Lennear, a Miami receiver commit, had four catches for around 40 yards but made one of the best catches of the weekend with a one-handed touchdown grab in Carol City's 38-3 win over Mainland.
Kamarui Dorsey, Hampton (GA): Dorsey, a Texas A&M safety commit, and the Hornets couldn't get much going in their season-opener, losing to Troup County 40-0.
Joshua Dobson, Hough (Cornelius, NC): Dobson, a South Carolina cornerback commit, recorded his first interception of the season, stopping a Northwestern scoring opportunity in the third quarter as the Huskies went on to secure a 15-10 win.
Jaiden Bryant, Irmo (Columbia, SC): Bryant, a Miami edge commit, was double-teamed most of the night and limited in Irmo's season-opening 24-14 loss to Rock Hill.
Kaden Henderson, Tampa Jesuit (Tampa, FL): Henderson, a Texas A&M linebacker commit, led the Tigers to a dominant season-opening performance as they shut out Special Fit Academy (FL) 37-0.
Rashad Streets, Millbrook (Raleigh, NC): Streets, an Oregon edge commit, anchored a Millbrook defensive unit that shut down Apex in the Wildcats' 34-12 season-opening win.
Marcus Fakatou, Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA): Fakatou, an Ohio State defensive line commit, shined in his debut with Sierra Canyon totaling a pair of sacks in a 42-21 win over JSerra Catholic.
How the 2028 5-star prospects faredBrysen Wright, Mandarin (Jacksonville, FL): The No. 1 player in the 2028 class, Wright had three catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 34-0 win over McArthur. He also had an interception on the first play of the game and three tackles.
Kellan Hall, Christian Academy of Louisville (KY): Hall and the Centurions defense were dominant in their season-opening win shutting out Pikeville 41-0.
Asher Ghioto, The Bolles School (Jacksonville, FL): Ghioto and Bolles started off the year with a 20-19 loss to Columbia (FL). He finished the game with three tackles and three quarterback pressures.
Casey Barner, McEachern (Powder Springs, GA): Barner had a good night playing both sides of the ball in a 40-10 win over Kell, rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown while also grabbing an interception.
Cassell Cruickshank, E.E. Smith (Fayetteville, NC): An elite edge-rusher for the Golden Bulls, Cruickshank's junior season started off with a 30-22 loss to Hillside.
Jayden Wade, IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL):Wade, a Georgia quarterback commit, was efficient for the Ascenders, completing 15 of his 21 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-3 win over Lone Peak (UT).
Braylon Clark, Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC): Clark totaled five receptions for 51 yards and a 17-yard touchdown in a 49-13 win over Myers Park.
Maui Tonata, Orem (UT): Tonata and the Tigers' offense had their struggles in a 21-14 Week 2 loss to Skyridge.
Prince Che, Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA): Che anchored a dominant defensive line for the Yellow Jackets in a 57-21 win over Colquitt County. He finished the night with four tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack.
Darieon Prescott, Bolingbrook (IL): Prescott, a Notre Dame edge commitment, and the Raiders struggled in their season-opener losing to Homewood-Flossmoor 31-0.
Jermaine Cobbins, Springfield (TN):Cobbins was dominant on both sides of the ball in the Yellow Jackets' 35-7 win over Rossview totaling 145 yards receiving, an 80-yard receiving touchdown and four tackles on defense.
Madoxx Davis, Cartersville (GA): Davis and Cartersville were dominant in a 48-0 win to kick off the year. He led the Purple Hurricanes with four receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Austin Attalah, Orange Lutheran (CA): Attalah recently transferred to Orange Lutheran ahead of his junior season. In a cross-country showdown with Miami Central, the Lancers suffered a 23-22 loss.
Lorenzo McMullen Jr. Princeton (Cincinnati, OH): In a highly anticipated showdown with Archbishop Moeller, McMuller caught four passes for 23 yards in a 31-24
Kameron McGee, Brother Rice (Chicago, IL): McGee's Crusaders suffered a 22-21 loss to Lincoln-Way East. He finished the game with a tackle for loss a forced fumble and a quarterback pressure.
Jameer Whyce, Trotwood-Madison (Dayton, OH): Whyce, an Ohio State edge commit, and the Rams struggled in their season-opener losing to Central Catholic 27-7.
