Barcelona expected to wrap up deal to sign Premier League star after exit of key attacker – Romero

There is much anxiety in the Barcelona camp lately, as the club are actively involved in three key transfer sagas.

This includes Rodri and his supposed move to Barcelona after the Manchester City midfielder snubbed an opportunity to join Real Madrid.

However, even though Rodri had decided to join Barcelona earlier in the month, the Catalans have yet to reach an agreement with Manchester City and have seen their offers getting rejected.

Quite naturally, the delay in agreement has led to panic among Barcelona supporters that the midfielder might not end up joining the Catalan outfit.

However, Barcelona-based journalist Gerard Romero has offered an important update, adding that Rodri will become a Barça player this summer, but it depends on a key departure.

Romero believes Barcelona will be able to close an agreement with Manchester City once the club manage to formally offload Ferran Torres.

The Spanish international has been closely linked with a move to PSG for weeks and Romero himself confirms that the move could be officiated soon, with the player receiving the permission to miss training on Wednesday.

Romero adds that Barcelona are expected to a close a deal worth €60 million plus variables for Rodri, which is reasonable given the player’s status as a Ballon d’Or winner and a World Cup-winning captain.

An important few days ahead

Keeping these factors in mind, the coming few days could be important for Barcelona, in their pursuit of not just Rodri but also Julian Alvarez.

The Argentine is expected to push harder for an exit in the coming days while Ferran Torres move could be finalised as soon as Wednesday.

Barcelona, therefore, must act with swiftness in the coming days as they look to finalise the squad-building as soon as they possible.

The Catalans are slated to open their campaign on August 23 as they travel to Manuel Martinez Valero stadium to face Elche.
