The Cincinnati Bengals made a ton of moves this past offseason; whether via trade or free agency, they added multiple impact players to the roster. However, could Cincinnati make another move to add an important player as we enter the season in three weeks? There are some who think the Bengals should trade a veteran wide receiver for help elsewhere on the team.
Cincinnati could use help at corner, tackle, and especially at linebacker. DJ Turner and Dax Hill are expected to have a great season and could be one of the better cornerback duos in the league, but the depth behind them is the question, as rookie Tacario Davis is in line to play a big depth role.
The Bengals recently cut offensive lineman Cody Ford, who was the odd man out in the backup tackle competition, according to Charlie Goldsmith. They still don’t have experienced depth at the spot and could very well look to add before the season.
We’ve long talked about the questions surrounding Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr., and those questions won’t be answered until the season starts.
So, who could be on the move?
WR Andrei Iosivas projects to be the Bengals' third wide receiver this year, but given the usage rate of anyone besides Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Cincinnati could consider moving Iosivas, who is in the last year of his contract.
Other receivers like Charlie Jones and Mitchell Tinsley could possibly be on the move. Tinsley has flashed multiple times for his ability to make difficult catches, and Jones offers a great skill set as a punt and kick returner. Other teams could see a lot of value in him.
Colbie Young’s performances in training camp and the preseason give Cincinnati a lot of wiggle room with its receivers, as he appears to be someone who could impact the franchise for seasons to come.
The Las Vegas Raiders are a possible trade fit for the Bengals. They added Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean this offseason, and their linebackers are probably their deepest room on the team. Tommy Eichenberg also could use a lot of wide receiver help. They will trot out Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor, and Jack Bech as their first-string wide receivers, with Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers being their biggest weapons. Tommy Eichenberg could come to Cincinnati as a linebacker in a deal.
With Fernando Mendoza eventually becoming their starting quarterback, more veteran wide receiver depth would be a big help, and Andrei Iosivas fits that mold.
