We now know when Big Blue Madness 2026 will tip off, as UK has announced that the annual Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball event will take place on October 2.
Why is that date unique? It’s actually a week earlier than Madness has happened in the past, usually taking place on the second weekend of October.
Why does that matter? Because earlier this year, the NCAA announced that teams can now have three preseason exhibition games vs. other schools. One example is the Oklahoma State Cowboys recently announcing they would face New Mexico, Tulsa, and Wisconsin for their three-game exhibition season.
So, it appears Kentucky is also ready to take advantage of this and play three opponents in the preseason, which would explain why Madness is coming a week earlier.
To this point, the men’s basketball team has only announced one exhibition game, which will see former Wildcat Travis Ford and his Little Rock squad invade Rupp Arena. Look for two more exhibition foes to be announced in the coming days and weeks as the school finalizes its 2026-27 schedule.
