Birmingham City boss Chris Davies says his Blues team has 'got ourselves together' as they bounced back from Tuesday night's embarrassing home 6-1 Carabao Cup hammering by Brentford to win at Wrexham.
Despite all the personal criticism that came his way in midweek, the under-pressure Davies was confident that his players would turn it round.
And, sure enough, after outwitting winless Wrexham to extend their unbeaten away run to five games, Davies is looking forward again.
"I've had some low moments," he told BBC Radio WM. "But I had some much lower moments when were were in League One. And I've just learnt how to deal with them.
"I trust the players. My job was to pick them up - and I had no doubt that they would be ready.
"We got ourselves together and we showed what we are about.
"The most important thing was that we looked like a team. Anyone could see that. But it was a big win. And a deserved win too."
Davies pinpointed the quality of his side's setpieces, as they once again triumphed on Welsh soil. The first round match away to Swansea was a 1-0 win thanks to a August Priske strike from a setpiece - this time it was defender Phil Neumann with a double to prove the matchwinner.
"Tight games like that can go either way," added Davies. "And in games this tight you need your setpieces.
"We won away at Swansea with a setpiece - and now we've won away here with a setpiece too.
"Phil was fantastic - a great header and real quality from August with the cross.
"The only problem was that Phil didn't get a hat-trick," he joked.
"But he was outstanding against Kieffer Moore. And big Kieffer is as hard as they come to play against in the physical side."
Blues now face the challenge of trying to get it right at St Andrew's, as take on successive home games against Southampton, on Tuesday night, then Wolves next Saturday lunchtime.
