Boot Camp: Pontiac looks to unlock run game with Jayden Reed

PONTIAC, Ill. (WMBD) -- Pontiac boasts 62 players on their roster, and they return a lot of experience, which includes all five starters on the offensive line.

Amidst what would be a 2-7 record last season, the Indians made a change at running back, which led to then sophomore Jayden Reed rushing for 100 yards in three consecutive games. In his first full season as the starter, he'll be joined by new quarterback Joshua Hartke, who benefits from a near lifelong connection with his center.

"I mean Jayden Reed our running back I love him so much, but Joshua Hartke me and him we're in all our classes together," said center T.J. Murphy. "He's our quarterback, you know I've been with him my entire life, so we have so we already have that kind of connection. We've been working hard together this season."

"I plan to do the best that I can, I have great linemen in front of me, and I just hope they can really carry me forward with my running game," said Reed. "I've had a lot of big runs that I've ruined because I haven't made the right read or I've been slacking off, so I really hope I can just keep going and getting better."

Pontiac's first game is at home against Coal City.
