Boot Camp: Ridgeview-Lexington features smallest roster over past couple years

COLFAX, Ill. (WMBD) -- Ridgeview-Lexington opened the season on fire last year, winning their first seven games. However, their playoff journey ended in just the first round, and they face a tough challenge this season: They only have 32 players in their program, which is the lowest they've seen in years.

They do return experience on the offensive line, which returns four of five starters. That'll help their all sophomore running back room, which is headlined by former fullback Ayden Weber, who has high expectations for a team that hopes they can repeat last year's success.

"I hope to see a lot of great players come out of this year," said Weber. "I have a lot of expectations for all the players on this team that are going to be starting this year, but I believe that they will be great."

"I'm hoping for at least over .500, I want to get to the playoffs again," said lineman Dominic Brown. "I think we have the talent to do it, if we put in the work, we can make another playoff run this year I think."

The Mustangs begin the year at home against Leroy.
