As Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski sat in the broadcast booth for the Aug. 23 Little League World Series matchup between Davenport Northwest and Bayonne (New Jersey), a barrage of highlights of Iowa star Cooper Thissen played on his monitor.
Thissen struck out 15 and tossed 5 1/3 no-hit innings in his team’s first win earlier in the week in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Iowa pitching phenom drew rave reviews as Misiorowski watched the highlights.
“Wow,” Misiorwoski said during the broadcast on ABC. “Fired up. Love that.”
The Brewers ace was on hand in Williamsport for his team’s Sunday night game against the Atlanta Braves as part of the Little League World Series Classic. Misiorowski was one of the players Thissen said he hoped to meet during the festivities. Turns out, Misiorowski is a Thissen fan, too.
“It looks good,” Misiorowski said of Thissen’s stuff. “Obviously I wish I had his form from the left side. But from my point of view, it looks really good.”
Thissen, like Misiorowski, is a hard-thrower. His fastball has been clocked in the mid 70s during the LLWS, which is the big-league mound distance equivalent of a pitch in the 90s. Misiorowski is one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in baseball, frequently touching 100+ mph.
