Through their actions, the Cleveland Browns have told us that they do not love their defensive end room. There was even a report of this in late July, which led to the Browns bringing in familiar faces, Jadeveon Clowney and Za’Darius Smith, who would end up rejecting their offers to sign elsewhere, with Smith choosing former Cleveland HC Kevin Stefanski’s Atlanta Falcons this week.
Even former Browns DE/LB Genard Avery and former Baltimore Ravens DE/LB Tyus Bowser, neither of whom played in the NFL last season, got workouts with the team.
It seems like the team finally signed a new defensive end on Wednesday. We want to be careful, as nothing is official from Cleveland or the NFL, but DE Jamil Muhammad is reportedly signing with the Browns, according to his agent:
Congrats to Jamil Muhammad on signing with the Cleveland Browns.

Muhammad spent some time on the Carolina Panthers practice squad last year after initially joining the Los Angeles Rams after five years in college, the last two at USC.
Muhammad’s best season came in 2023 when he had 10.5 sacks for the Trojans. You can see some of his highlights from that season here:
Not exactly the veteran presence the Browns have been trying to add at defensive end, but a new competitor looking to make the 53-man roster.
