Indiana Fever travelled to Canada to face off with Toronto Tempo on Tuesday, and the reaction to Sophie Cunningham has been mixed.
Cunningham became a divisive figure in the WNBA earlier this year after her comments on transgender athletes competing in the sport.
She has received some backlash, including being booed during the meeting between the Tempo and the Fever on August 18.
However, there were some in Canada who have shown their support for the WNBA player, including Team Canada gold medallist April Hutchinson.

The post shows a video of multiple people holding up signs that say things like ‘with love is truth’ and ‘thank you Sophie’.
There is also a separate image of Hutchinson posing next to a picture of Cunningham.
But as mentioned, not everyone in attendance for the game was as supportive, and Cunningham has since commented on the boos she received.
She said: “I want to shout out the Tempo crowd and the city… The crowd was absolutely amazing. I think that’s what sports is all about. You’re going to get boos, and you’re going to get cheers. Just the fact that they’re so passionate, so loud, and that they’re putting on for the city, I think it’s amazing.”
