"I definitely have a level of trust in Brad and his team. But man, as a fan, that was tough. I really needed to be convinced to take the fan passion out of it, because I'm a super fan, was tough. You have to be a sociopath if you don't worry a little bit about what other fans are going to think...We've got the best brains in basketball, and this was something they had conviction around" (via Justin Turpin).
Clearly, Chisholm thought about how this trade would have an impact on several different groups of people.
It seemed like one of those 'lose-lose' decisions, where there was no way to keep everyone happy, but one where they felt the move had to be done either way.
Chisholm has voiced that he's been a long-time fan of the team, dating back to years before buying a stake in the Celtics, so he's not just affected by the team from a financial perspective, but also has an emotional stake involved.

This could be a conflict of interest for some, but it's good to know, from a fan's point of view, that their owner is saying he cares about how the team actually does, being a fan himself.
It may take time for fans to get over the trade, and that could get better or worse based on how both the 76ers and Celtics play this season and in the next few years.
However, Chisholm seems to believe in the long-term vision his front office has, and ultimately sees trust as the most important thing to believe in here.
